The A's have acquired slugger Adam Dunn in a trade with the White Sox.

The Athletics announced the trade Sunday on their official Twitter account, saying that the White Sox received minor league pitcher Nolan Sanburn in exchange for Dunn and unspecified cash considerations.

The Orioles added some strength to their bench on Saturday, acquiring Alejandro De Anza from the Red Sox, and Kelly Johnson from the Red Sox in a pair of trades, according to an ESPN.com report.

The New York Yankees have acquired Josh Outman from the Cleveland Indians.

New York added the left-handed specialist for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Outman opened this season as a member of Cleveland's bullpen, but was designated for assignment in June and sent outright to Triple-A Columbus.

The Texas Rangers have traded Geovany Soto to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for cash.

Soto was scratched from the lineup on Sunday before Texas faced off against the Kansas City Royals.

The catcher started the season on the disabled list as he underwent surgeries to repair an ankle and a knee. He has played in just 10 games, hitting .237/.237/.368.

The Chicago White Sox have traded Gordon Beckham to the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named later.

Beckham is batting .221 with seven home runs, 24 doubles and 36 RBIs in 101 games.

Jerry Dipoto said Beckham will come off the bench against left-handed pitchers. He also said they'll take a look at Beckham at shortstop along with second and third base.

"Not having a great year with the bat, but really wearing out left-handed pitching," Dipoto, who put a claim on Beckham before the trade was worked out, said. "We feel like it's a real nice platoon advantage for us.

"I think the benefit with our team is that you don't need him to take four at-bats a game, seven days a week. You just need him to be a part of the team."

The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired Brett Jackson from the Chicago Cubs for minor league reliever Blake Cooper.

Jackson will be assigned to Triple-A Reno.

The Diamondbacks claimed Jackson off waivers. He is a former first-round pick and was rated as one of baseball's top prospects a few years ago.

The Kansas City Royals have acquired Josh Willingham from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for minor league pitcher Jason Adam.

Kansas City is looking to bolster their offense for a playoff push. The Royals have not been to the postseason since 1985.

"Obviously the goal was to win with the Twins," Willingham said. "Unfortunately, we weren't. Now I have a chance to go help another club and hopefully make the playoffs."

Willingham is expected to arrive in Kansas City in time for Tuesday night's game.

The Royals have agreed to take on the remainder of Willingham's contract -- about $1.8 million of the $7 million that he was making in the final year of his three-year deal.

The Dodgers acquired right-hander Kevin Correia from the Twins on Saturday night for a player to be named or cash.

Correia, 33, is 5-13 with a 4.94 ERA in 23 starts this season. He has spent parts of 12 years in the Major Leagues, the last seven almost exclusively as a starter.

The Angels have acquired right-hander Vinnie Pestano in a trade with the Indians, according to an ESPN.com report.

Pestano has spent time with Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus this season. He went 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA in 13 games with the Indians.

The Indians received minor league right-hander Michael Clevinger in Thursday's deal. 

The Dodgers acquired veteran pitcher Roberto Hernandez from the Phillies, the teams announced Thursday.

In exchange, the Phillies will receive two "lower-level minor leaguers," a major league source familiar with the transaction told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark.
